My cousin Beth had a boyfriend that, I'm pretty sure, was mean to her. She didn't deserve anyone being mean to her - she was a sweet girl. But this isn't about him being mean, this is just about the song that goes through my mind when I remember the times we spent together - Beth with her boyfriend and Jeremy and me. I always thought it as a song Beth's boyfriend might sing to her. (actually - it might have been "their song" - although it came out a couple of years before my memory).
